Challenges

  1. Inadequate resources available (Money, working facilities, staff etc.)
  2. Insufficient knowledge of member organizations in coordinating, planning and preparing project proposals.
  3. Need to do monitoring of activities to know outputs/results.
  4. Coordination of NGO members 29 is challenging.
  5. Advocacy needs to be improved to religious leaders, community leaders and at national level (stigma – ZANGOC needs to work in order to get rid of stigma).
  6. We need to stay focused for sustainability (be less donor driven).
  7. Delay of funds disbursement.
  8. Urban bias – we need to sensitize rural NGOs to also play a role in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
  9. Not having a clear, collective vision, mission and strategic directions through which ZANGOC and the member NGOs will know
    • What to do
    • How to do
    • When to do
  1. How can leaders (founders) accept and support the changes (evolution) of ZANGOC to follow and accommodate relative changes.
  2. Some of the developed NGOs show no interest in seeking mutual support and collaboration with ZANGOC/ other member NGOs.
  3. Production of Zanzibar – oriented IEC materials.
  4. Increased number of new HIV/AIDS cases despite our existence.
  5. Few NGO members implement activities as expected.
  6. Sustainability of activities is doubtful
